I loved that this episode had interesting combat, humor, new stuff, Taliesin getting to play with Cad's low intelligence, and gave us some hooks to look forward to. I'm excited to see what they're going to face, and how Willy will work, and how the hell the war looks when they finally get out. I feel like the passage of time outside the ball is going to be pretty huge.

Yeah, when they were taking the long rest, I was thinking that was going to be another week! That's huge! I think they're up to at least fifteen days in the ball now? Travelercon is coming up fast! The combat was pretty amazing (That was a good use of command), but I'm also anxious for them to get out.

CritRoleStats has them at 16 days so far (scroll all the way down). If this battle doesn't get them Yussa and/or a way out, and they need to take another long rest, we're looking at almost a month passed in the outside world. That has repercussions for Travelercon as you said, plus what the opinion of the Bright Queen might be about them disappearing for a month, what Obann, Yasha, and the Laughing Hand will have done in the meanwhile, heightened tensions between the Empire and the Dynasty... <danicarr> Oh, Mighty Nein! </danicarr>

If they go away for a month and come back with the means to put down the Laughing Hand, that is pretty significant. What the state of the war is will be another matter, but it seems to me the M9 are fighting, pretty much alone, on the other front of the war - the one against the CA and whatever other powers are creating the situation and using it to reactivate creatures from the Calamity.

From a DM perspective, I am in love with the Happy Fun Ball. It allows for all kinds of creatively different encounters that don't have to make consistent sense - you can have Froghemoths and Bullywigs right next to blue dragons, golems, amazing traps, whatever you want. There are rewards for using the HFB - magic items, treasure, golems, and probably more - but you have to balance that against the time shifting effects and so it creates a rewarding set of possible side quests balanced out by creating urgency around events outside. I may just steal the basic idea of it, if not the exact layout and rooms.

And, the room they are in is actually a chamber inside the heart itself, right?
