This show still feels like a huge mess and there are still a lot of things unexplained and way too much information but I somehow still enjoy it.

From the preview, it looks like the real fun begins next episode, though? Like it seems like they finally got the band together.

I shouldn't have been that surprised that Mrs Coulter is Lyra's mother, though the way it was presented was just as weird as when they revealed Azrael is her father.

What the hell is Clarke Peters' character doing in our-world? Who is he looking for? Where the hell is that storyline going?

I have a hunch that all this weird pacing and information overload is because they are following the books fairly closely, but it's just a hunch as I haven't read them and don't intend to.

That's not Clarke Peters' character (the Master from Jordan), that's Lord Boreal from the Magisterium.

In the first episode Lord Asreal said he had the skull of a professor who had been to another world. As someone else who knows about the other worlds, Boreal has been trying to find out who that guy was. His hacker buddy in our world just told him that the guy he's looking for is actually from our world. Boreal said that can't be true bc he has a daemon in Azreal's photo and the hacker guy speculates that maybe you get one if you cross into that world.

I am not usually a person who is six moves ahead in the nine-dimensional chess of predicting what will happen in a book (honestly, I think it's more fun not to know and be surprised), but I knew from the bath that she was Lyra's mother. Continues to be interesting.
