snerson's nom for best line: "Flying isn't really all that scary when you think about it. I mean, there are a lot more likely ways to die than on a plane. Car crash, house fire, electrocution, drowning, autoerotic asphyxiation. I mean, the fact is, death haunts us every day. No matter where we are."

I recall seeing an interview with John Rogers where he discussed the first season, including this episode:

Apparently, the reason why the plane is written to successfully use a highway as a makeshift runway is because, at the time the screenwriters were putting together the episode, there hadn't been a water landing of a commercial airline without at least one fatality. So they wrote a highway landing instead.

Of course, not even a week before this episode aired, Capt. Sully landed US Airways 1549 in the Hudson in "the most successful ditching in aviation history". So, bad news is the episode sort of seemed anticlimactic after that, but good news is that it had a very "ripped from the headlines" feel.

That's really interesting Pluto Gangsta! Good (or maybe bad) timing.

I still don't really understand why the CEO ordered the security guy to take out the accountant, but used a supposedly more trustworthy third party to plant a bomb...

I remember the irony of this episode premiering so close on the heels of the 'Miracle on the Hudson' landing -- also, if TNT hadn't futzed around with the episode order, this would have aired as #5 on December 30th 2008, weeks before the 1/15/09 Hudson River landing, instead of as #8 on 1/20/19. Being in the midst of media frenzy over the real events made the idea of the Leverage crew being able to slip away undetected especially ludicrous, very much a 'get onboard the fun train/pay no attention to the man behind the curtain' episode. But it gave us Eliot's airplane bathroom fight scene, so, there's that.

This one's just fun in general. You've got Hardison bonding with the office worker over WoW, getting caught at Nate's desk, and getting fired on his birthday, you've got Parker dealing with Sara Rue, you've got Nate and Sophie having fun with that luggage.

I do feel badly for that one stewardess who was sent into a brief panic over her pet.

Good episode! Especially Hardison infiltrating corporate America and indignantly crying "racism" when the guy recognizes him as the janitor.

I think this is the KF Monkey post for this one, although it doesn't add much to it. There's also some Q&A about this episode in this one.

The entire plotline of Hardison at the office is hilarious.
