A corporate defense attorney takes on an environmental lawsuit against a chemical company that exposes a lengthy history of pollution. Based on The New York Times magazine article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" by Nathaniel Rich.

For awhile my TV didn't have an ability to show blue and so everything was a kind of yellowish muddle, and this movie reminded me of that a lot.

This feels like a worse version of Erin Brokovich. When Anne Hathaway did the obligatory, "You're obsessed with your job!" type speech I was imagining Ruffalo giving an answer like Julia Roberts gave to Erin Eckhart that's like, "Fuck you, feel free to hit the road if you don't like it." I think "wife yells at husband to stop being such a hero" is one of my least favorite tropes.

Despite how rote it is, the note it hits before the final turn is bleak. It makes me wish the right wing lunatic fringe in this country was a little more anti-corporate, anti-billionaire; like, point that energy at the right targets for once.
