Labeled an outcast by his brainy family, a bouncer overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way.

Surprisingly charming though obviously chock fucking full of foul language. I definitely have a soft spot for this one and will rewatch it every couple of years.

Recently saw Kim Coates at a coffee shop (didn't bother him) and his role as the coach was one of the first ones to spring to mind when I was trying to tell my family who he was.

I haven't worked up the nerve to check out the sequel yet. That's probably for the best.

It probably helps that I'm Canadian.

Goon is streaming in the US via Netflix, Hoopla, and Magnolia Selects.

(The sequel is streaming on Netflix as well.)

Goon is on UK Netflix now as well which is where I rewatched it.

Absolutely one of my favourite feel-good R-rated movies. Absolute comfort food. Alison Pill is a real bright spot in the film and she does an awful lot with relatively limited screen time. There's quite a few strong supporting performances throughout that help the film immensely.

The sequel I recall not being as awful as I feared but not very good either as I cannot recount a single thing that happens in it.

Liev Schreiber steals this entire movie.

Whoever cast him deserves recognition.

I loved this film. "Why are you crying? Did you just watch Rudy?" is a line that has stuck with me for some strange reason.

Just rewatched the sequel. It's... no good. Fun to see a few tiny Letterkenny cameos and that's about it.
