Looking to get a cheap thrill, a motorist flashes two young women who have stopped to give him directions. Unfortunately, he has picked the wrong women. A short film by Kate Dolan.

That wasn't great, no. I also go back and forth on the cheeky "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" title card for what turns out to be a story about cat people.

But... horror shorts like this one with only a shard of a story register to me more as calling card for a director's style than anything else. And Dolan has chops, nailed a vibe, and even had terrific monster design. So I'm giving it a mild thumbs up.

That was genuinely scary, and I loved including a real cat sliding under the hedge when we watch the man arrive home. Definitely scary and atmospheric.
