A town that claims to be home to vampire finds out that the legend is actually true.

When a cairn that supposedly houses the remains of a vampire is destroyed for a construction project, a small group of locals realizes that an ancient vampire has been unearthed and is draining the townspeople. The band of would be vampire killers discover that fact can be very different from fiction.

This full length feature is based on a short by the same name. Both were written by Chris Baugh.

I saw this during Nightstream last week, and thought it was a fun sort of throwback to the tone of 80's horror movies, where the monsters are part of the fun rather than particularly horrifying. So many horror films these days are meditations on grief or whatever, and a lot of those are great, but sometimes you just want to see a vampire bite a guy, you know?

I was not particularly a fan of the "draining" mechanism itself, where people start spontaneously dripping blood from the nose, eyes, and ears. There's also some attempts at character arcs that don't really come together for me. I did enjoy the "Dracula was ripped off our local legend" bit, though.

I don't think this one has distribution yet, but it's sure to show up sooner or later - there's got to be an audience for it.

I also saw it through Nightstream. I agree that it is fun, but kinda misses the mark entirely. Still I think it's probably a fun late night movie to watch with friends when you all have a few drinks in. (I do this virtually these days and it's still fun.)
