A Place to Call Home: Season Five
February 8, 2021 10:48 AM - Season 5 (Full Season) - Subscribe

Jumping ahead four years to 1958, season five looks at the changes in Australian society during that period, as cultural norms fall away, morals evolve, and the younger generation rejects the values of their elders and the continued focus on the War years.

Currently streaming in the US on Acorn TV.

This looks interesting but I'll have to start with the 1st season. :)

Only partway through but I am not liking the way they are portraying Regina as a sudden martyr for not being immediately forgiven after she has done absolutely nothing except push people's boundaries and claim she is a different person now.

And finished it, and I still dislike the entire (obvious) Regina arc. I hope they don't decide they need to add another villain next season.

I also am finding it a little weird that Anna switched entirely to calling Jack her father, and not George, the man who raised her. (It remains unclear to me when her mother died -- maybe it was there and I forgot -- but if it was early enough I find Carolyn less of an issue.)

Why in the everloving fuck does George ask Sir Richard Bennett's counsel on anything? He raped his sister.

George is remarkably stupid.

Regina is so very beige this season. Chestnut hair, beige makeup, beige clothes, beige shoes, beige home decor.

Ok, and now she's dead. They put all of this effort into trying to make her not loathsome and then they killed her.

Villains do not generally get the right comeuppance on this show. It's my biggest complaint.

Regina was a trash person and her late life efforts to be decent only made her death completely unsatisfying.

Also: of course the women of Bly Manor are into Matt Goddard. He's the only man in Inverness who isn't like 5'8" and 150 pounds.
