Based on the true story of the Cold War spy Greville Wynne and his Russian source trying to put an end to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Just saw this as well. It wasn't bad at all, but I felt that the themes were very hammered home. It wasn't subtle. But it was generally well done! The suspense Greville felt was well conveyed and even the scene where everyone gets caught had me on the edge of my seat.

I just watched this last night and thought it very well done. The staidness of the first two thirds of the film paid off in the (still understated but very emotionally charged) exchanges of information in the prison scenes.
I also sort of wondered about Rachel Brosnahan's character. I thought Brosnahan did a fine job but her character seemed an unaddressed anachronism. I'm aware that women have acted as spies for all of history, and that women can certainly do the job that her character was seen to be doing. Nevertheless, as a layperson I found it a little jarring to be told that the 1960s CIA would have had a woman running this operation with as much autonomy as she was given. 1960 is also the year that Peggy Olson starts out as Don Draper's secretary, for example.

We watched this on the weekend. Really enjoyed the performances of Cumberbatch and Ninidze. Good/bad dad's. Heroes.
Czech Republic has some great location shots.

Two quiet, ordinary men stepping up and doing such incredibly important work at such cost to themselves and their families... I wish so much they could have gotten away clean.
Rachel Brosnahan stuck out like a sore thumb, though. I like her, but she was too Midge Maisel in this.
