- Always impressed by Dr. Melfi's brass balls when she has to stare Tony down!
- Once again the theme of the patriarch and the demands/expectations placed on him. Tony isn't the boss but has to manage up to keep things smooth under Junior's new regime. In his role as up-and-coming patriarch, Tony cannot be perceived as deferring to or being controlled by the women in his life, but their influence on him is palpable. I think he uses women as external consciences and inhibitions, and is more comfortable with "tough" women than with demure ones. So much of his therapy involves working out his emotional conflicts with women.
- Junior's relationship with Livia mirrors this dynamic too.
