The first rule of the Horror Directors Guild is that you have to sign a contract in your own blood promising that your film will begin with desaturated aerial drone shots of an ominous evergreen forest.

The plot of this was a little, um, on the oblique side. I liked it, but I don't think I fully got it.

A fine pairing with In the Earth; both have some DNA that surely descended from writers recently finding out about massive-acreage fungal superorganisms and their minds getting blown.

The fruiting bodies of the time are really ripe for someone to be working on a trippy horrorish adaptation of some of Terrence McKenna's "research" into that time he was pretty sure he immanentized the eschaton by way of the right ayahuasca reactions and vocalized hums fusing his neural DNA with psychoactive chemicals in a brain-based superconducting molecular matrix (which is all pretty much straightforward science when you're in the right researching mindset preferably involving a campfire in a jungle and sobriety being something around a week ago).
