A former CIA officer, who's living off the grid, finds himself on the run from people who want to kill him. Starring Jeff Bridges (whose cancer and subsequent life-threatening bout with COVID shut down production for a long time), John Lithgow, Amy Brenneman, and Alia Shawkat, and airing on FX in the US.

When Dan Chase's past catches up to him, he must flee the town he's called home for three decades.

This kind of story is just catnip to me--I feel bad about that, but here we are. No matter how implausible they are or how many holes the stories have in them, I will find myself watching the "former operator who thought he was out but gets pulled back in and everyone wants to kill him" dramas if they have even a modicum of production values. And both Bridges and Lithgow are fantastic here and highly watchable; I didn't care about the mistakes, I was just along for the ride with two seasoned pros. FX seems to do this kind of show amazingly well and I'm really looking forward to how this will unfold.

I really enjoyed it. I hope nothing bad ever happens to those dogs and they just get to feast on bad guys forever. That fight scene - you know the one - man, brutal - after a point it became hard to watch, which I know was the whole point.

Very promising so far.

Thanks for the post kitten kaboodle! Bridges and Lithgow are among the very top of my fav actors list, and it looks like they have plenty to work with.

I recently reread the book and the book and the show pretty much part ways after 15 minutes but that’s okay. It looks like they hook up again at some point. The book is competence-porn and this is much grittier. Young Old Man was a good choice, I see the resemblance.
