There's a fair bit of talk in film circles of late about "maximalism" in film, a kind of "more is more" ethos where filmmakers really show out with style, flash, trickery, technique, and audaciousness. The thing is, US filmmakers tend to do this in a kind of meta way, layering in jokes, references, cribs from other films/media. I love that stuff, but...

Indian filmmakers excel at maximalist melodrama and Americans are missing out.

Absolutely no one in my family is willing to watch a two and a half hour movie with me from any genre, so I'm going this one alone in chunks.

The bit where Rocky breaks the bottle over the crooked cop's head, nearly escapes, then runs back to do it again to make sure the asshole knows his name is pretty epic.

Also, to Western eyes, the screen credit introducing "ROCKING STAR YASH" is pretty odd and funny.
