Man, the commercials for this do not make it look good in the least. More like an "Idris needs to make a boat payment" project.

That's exactly where we are at on this. The trailer bores us. My kid keeps calling it Safari Cujo.

That said, the reviews are mostly good. Whether my kid and I see this in the theater will largely be a function of whether we run out of better choices before its run ends.

I haven't watched this yet but the concept puts me in mind of a Gary Larson cartoon of one of the three pigs on trial after the wolf comes down his chimney: "Did you know my client is an endangered species, Mr. Pig, while you yourself are nothing more than a walking side of ham?"

This is one of those movies where characters are faced with a choice and almost always make the wrong one, sometimes the obviously wrong one. About 2/3 through it had already become so ridiculous that I felt like it worked better as a comedy, and I wanted the ending to be the three main characters boarding the plane back home only to find the lion in the pilot's seat wearing a captain's hat.
