I'm seeing this movie for the first time on Monday, and I was given to understand that the contents of the basket was going to be a big, shocking, surprise reveal. In the future could you skip putting spoilers in the movie summary, since that summary displays on the main FanFare page?

I hate that it got spoiled for you, but that is in the IMDb description.
It's also in the Rotten Tomatoes description. It's in the listing on Shudder. It's in the one on Tubi. It's in the one on Kanopy. It's in the one on Criterion. It's in the one on Fandor. It's in the one on Screambox. It's in the one on Arrow. It's in the listing on Fandango. Also in the one on Moviefone. And the one on Google TV. Also the one on Apple TV.
It's in the plot blurb above the fold on Wikipedia, too.
And the movie is 40 years old.
Again, I really do hate anything being spoiled for folks, but dang.
If it makes you feel any better, that plot point isn't the twist at the end of the movie, it's something that comes in early, well before the first act break. The movie doesn't hinge on a viewer going in blind.

Hey though, if even hearing the initial premise of a movie bothers you, you're not the only one. There's a feature at the top of FF that will turn off plot descriptions so that this never happens again for you.

Ok, that actually does make me feel significantly better. I thought it would be a big reveal at the end. Thanks!

The cover seems to give some pretty big hints, as well...

There is a reveal that most people probably didn't expect going in, especially from an 80s movie, but it's entirely "unspoiled" by this post so far.

Watching this today, I was bowled over by what a wild, weird piece of naive folk art it is.
