A genuinely funny episode! Even Please Don’t Destroy was funny (Sarah Sherman’s real dad!) The whole show felt energized and upbeat. Was that Martin and Short’s influence? ~shrugs~

Also: Chloe and the Scarlett Johansson “imitation” seemed to take Colin completely by surprise. Like, she was supposed to do someone else and conspired with Mikey to drop in the Scarlett imitation. Pretty funny.

I know it's not the point, but I have trouble getting over how useless "have a partner who is a top-notch impressionist" is as sex advice.

I love the idea that wide-eyed woodland critters are out there living out their Christmas wishes in song. Anyone remember the The Singing Sisters bit with Amy Adams? "If we guess wrong, we have to find the nastiest piece of garbage and chew on it!"

And here's the original Snow song from White Christmas. Clooney did her level best to sell that ridiculous line about washing her hair with snow even back then.

And A Christmas Carol had me shaking with laughter!

Great episode! My favorite sketch was the bears on a train. A few years ago I watched White Christmas with a group of friends and for several days afterwards, we all couldn’t stop riffing back-and-forth to each other about the sublime ridiculousness of the Snow song. A perfect sketch!

I've never heard Brandi Carlyle sing live before that I know of, and I was really bowled over by her performance. She is the platonic ideal of an SNL musical guest, especially for this time of year!

It was fine. Short and Martin are a great team and they gave it their all, but I thought the writing wasn't great.

It's been a little while since SNL did one of their bits where I need to know who wrote it to know if it's racist/sexist or not, but then along came Ego Nwodim's WU segment. That little spiel about how there are "no Black Karens" so Black women can supposedly get away with acting like entitled lunatics without any consequences? Jesus Christ. It's horseshit, whoever wrote it, but if a white dude wrote it he needs a good slap.
