An average kind of guy who has a slight problem with gambling goes to the track, and mystically, it seems as though he can't lose, no matter how he bets; and he has an incredible day.

Tipped off by his buddy (David Johansen), a loser cabby (Richard Dreyfuss) parlays a $50 horse bet at the track.

A degenerate gamblers dream day.

27%? do these people not know the tradition of Damon Runyon? I'm not saying this is Runyon level, because it's not, but this is a movie that really makes you see the community that forms around race tracks and the perpetual quest for the "big tip."

It builds its story effectively as the movie goes along, and is basically the equivalent of a heist movie with no crime at the center.
