All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Dynamite 1/4 and Rampage 1/6
January 5, 2023 4:11 PM - Season 4, Episode 14 - Subscribe

The first Dynamite of 2023 comes with a new set design and theme, along with two championship matches and several banger promos . (This post is actually going up after the show, I was AFK most of yesterday.) Remember, Rampage is 2 hours this Friday (still starting at 10PM Eastern), to make room for Battle of the Belts V!

Firstly, Young Bucks are taking a week off while Mr. Kenneth By-God Omega had a career highlight match over in the Tokyo Dome. So the card for Dynamite was:

-- Ricky Starks winning vs. Chris Jericho, followed by him getting a castigo from the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society. Action Andretti, still sporting Jericho's fireball marks, runs down to make a save but is also overcome by the numbers

-- AEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: “The Acclaimed” Max Caster and Anthony Bowens retain vs. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal after a scary finish where it looked like the ring official had been bamboozled by Sanjay Dutt, only for Aubrey and the rest of the ref crew to restart the match

-- Jade Cargill and Red Velvet won vs. Skye Blue and Kiera Hogan, but Jade seems to have lost another Baddie as Red Velvet leaves her hanging mid-match

-- Swerve Strickland won vs. AR Fox in a great match that had callbacks to these guys rivalry back in Lucha Underground

-- Bryan Danielson disposed of Tony Nese, followed by MJF coming out to cut a promo on Danielson and lay out terms for Danielson to challenge for the title at Revolution in March: Danielson has to win every week for the next 4 (5?) weeks. After some discussion about the promiscuity of MJF's mother, Danielson added a stipulation of his own, that the championship match would be a 60-minute Iron Man Match. (Danielson will face Konosuke Takeshita next week.)

-- Hangman Adam Page and Jon Moxley had promos in the ring, stared each other down and failed to hide their throbbing sexual tension

-- TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Samoa Joe lost the title to Darby Allin after a great underdog match that saw hometown hero Darby come to the aid of his friend (and recent AEW signee) Nick Wayne in the audience, followed by getting manhandled by Joe for about 7 minutes, then getting a heroic second wind like his adopted father Sting.

With Darby's victory, this means all of the AEW titles are now held by "homegrown" talent. (Except arguably the Trios titles, because PAC and the Lucha Bros. are imports (except they may very well lose the titles next week to The Elite anyway)).
