Listen to the lives of the long-ago kids, the world-fighters, The parent-unminding kids, the improper, the politeness-proof, The unbowed bully-crushers, The bedtime-breakers, the raspberry-blowers, Fighters of fun-killers, fearing nothing, fated for fame.

Beowulf recast with kids, for kids, with illustrations by Boulet, text by Zach Wienersmith. Quite a lot of kenning.

Just released after a minor delay, no word on whether they'll be doing Dream Of The Rood next (although, obviously, they should, I mean we all know that).

Quite a nice job with the text, if you're an Old English type of person:

Water-drafts were not drunk, for those days were drenched in soda,
And each soda had sugar heaped upon it, not did it want for sprinkles.
Teenage eyes curled wide with envy, enduring without a Carl-like king.
Carl: mountain-maker, metal-finder, the lament of bullies.

I picked up a copy this weekend "for the kids" and let them play video games while I read it cover to cover. It is just so, so ludicrously good.

My youngest daughter is named Bea, so I suspect this will be in heavy rotation in a few years - it looks fantastic!

I pre-ordered this just based on SMBC, and it's definitely beautiful! I tried reading a few pages to my 4 year old, but I think it will need to wait a while.
I'm enjoying it!
