AEW Collision: June 17: PREMIERE
June 17, 2023 4:59 PM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe

You know what this is. After going nearly a year without, Tony Khan is going to find out if CM Punk is still the same draw he was the last time he made his appearance at Chicago's United Center. Papa Tony has assembled a roster of talent who (hopefully) won't have an issue working with him, let's find out how good a show they can put on!

The announced card for the Collision premiere:

CM Punk & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe

Miro in action against ???

TNT Championship Match: Wardlow (c) (with Arn Anderson) vs. Luchasaurus (with Christian Cage)

Willow Nightingale & Skye Blue vs. Toni Storm & Ruby Soho

Andrade El Idolo vs. Buddy Matthews

The Acclaimed will speak

I loved that Tony Nese bit so much. I’m so glad that the Miro squash match was against someone we know and not a complete rando.

I really hope the announcer team gets better because oof. I know it's not fair to ask them to be as well-oiled as Taz, Excalibur and Schiavone are at this point but still, oof.

CM Punk's promo went a little long but that is, as they say, the Chicago way. It was interesting that he tried to thread the needle of saying things that could be either face or heel depending on how the crowd reacts once they're not in Chicago anymore.

Checking in on my stupid crush on Andrade: Still very healthy, apparently.

It was nice of them to give Sky the win in her hometown; it feels like she's ready for a push from jobber to midcarder.

Unfortunately the announce team as currently stands won't be together for long.

Good Ol' JR's voice was so ragged because he was working the premiere injured and is taking some time off.

Nigel McGuinness will soon be given a leave of absence to be part of the English-language team for NJPW's G1 Climax tournament.
