Welcome to Wrexham: Ballers
October 5, 2023 3:41 PM - Season 2, Episode 6 - Subscribe
The most dominant football team in Wales takes the pitch as they race toward promotion while juggling their day jobs.
Loved the focus on the women's team, and Rosie is clearly a bad-ass in everything she does. Also appreciated the completely banal inclusion of her partner supporting her pitchside instead of any kind of ostentatious "this is Rosie's partner and she's a woman!"
On the negative side, I felt I detected some serious acting facade coming off Ryan for the first time when he was being interviewed in his comfy chair. Rob was 100% thrilled to be involved, Ryan gave off insincere vibes IMO.

Yeah I picked up on that too. But he could just have been having a bad day. It does feel more and more like a Rob project though (which of course it always was).

I loved that the writeup gave no indication that it would be about the women's team. I also like how they left a cliffhanger. Will they or won't they win their tournament and get promoted? I hope we find out.

This is not specific to this episode, but just thought I'd drop it here, I recently exchanged comments with game dev/former critic Cara Ellison about Welcome to Wrexham and she mentioned that she has been able to successfully avoid (thus far) knowing how the season turned out (as of right now there are no spoilers in that thread, but it's social media, I suppose any asshole could show up and post some so you've been warned). Given that the show is a season behind RL, is that common?

Beware for those of you that want to remain spoiler free - someone dropped a spoiler in the comments for the next episode.
