The Traitors: The Traitors US: Murder in Plain Sight
January 15, 2024 6:04 PM - Season 2, Episode 3 - Subscribe

The Traitors are given a daunting task for their next murder. A dark mission ensures the players keep working on the prize pot. The Faithful continue to attempt to banish one of the Traitors. [This post can cover episodes 1, 2, and 3, since they dropped together]

"My queen Parvati’s all-white pearl-studded-headband look in the premiere reminds me of something I would’ve coveted from the American Girl catalogue that sold matching outfits for kids and their dolls circa 1995. Nevertheless, mommy mama matriarch is maternally matrilineally mothering, etc."—from Molly Fitzpatrick's 4-star recap of episode 1 for Vulture.

"I like Parvati’s black headband, black bow tie look a lot more than what she was wearing in the premiere — this is more Blair Waldorf and less Samantha Parkington."—from Molly Fitzpatrick's 4-star recap of episode 2 for Vulture.

"Parvati feels like a “trained assassin,” with “zero adrenaline” running through her veins. The leader of the Black Widow Brigade was born for this."—from Molly Fitzpatrick's 5-star recap of episode 3 for Vulture.

Could someone add a 'US' to this? Season 2 of the UK version is also running at the moment.

Going all celebs was definitely an improvement over the first US season's half and half, but I've found I prefer the non-celeb casts found in all of the other's I've seen (UK, both AU seasons, and NZ--basically all the English language ones except for Canada, I think).

That may partly be because I know almost none of them, except for Ekin-Su, but there's just a very different vibe when there's a full cast of reality show veterans.

Also Alan Cumming may be a treasure, and Scottish by birth, but the exaggerated accent he puts on for this would make Scrooge McDuck cringe (even David Tennant's). I'd have to say Claudia Winkleman is my favorite host.

I adore this show! Alan Cumming is so over-the-top in all the best ways, the gameplay is a delight, and the drama is so silly! I would like to see a cast of ALL non-celebs--I think the problem about having a mix is that you're dealing with some people who know how to be on TV and some people who are brand-new. I think non-celebs would be just as interesting as celebs if there wasn't that contrast in the cast.

Can't wait for ep 4!

epj, I highly encourage watching the other international versions if you have access! In the US, Peacock at least has the first seasons of the UK and Australia versions (I don't know if they'll be getting future seasons or other ones).

The UK season was the first I saw, and some of the participants became very emotionally invested in the game in a really earnest way. The Australian season, on the other hand, had some pretty strategic game play that was also pretty solid (the second AU season, maybe not so much, but it had the most hateable traitor I've yet seen).

The US version is definitely the most over the top, for sure.

Pryde, I will definitely check out the international versions! I do have access to whatever's on Peacock. More fun shows to watch--hooray!
