Thanks for posting rhizome. I like the SNL discussion here. I wish there was more to like in this episode, as I feel for some of the cast and some of the writers. There are some talented people, I love Bowen and Sarah, obviously, but Andrew Dismukes and the 2 new guys (I'll learn their names, but they are great!) are bringing some great character work and a different kind of energy to the show. I LOVE Ego and am happy that SNL has allowed her to bring really shine. But what the fuck are they doing with the hosts? And there is some funny writing that slips in but the big premises and general vibe is shit this season. Let's get some catch phrases at least! Just the same cookie cutter sketches.

I love SNL and watch it like its my local sports team. And let me tell you the COACH is fucking up BIG TIME!

Sydney Sweeney was a good choice, I liked her engergy and I love terrible accent work combined with commitment to the bit. She had good energy with Sarah Sherman too. Reminded me of Timothy Chalamet, a young dramatic actor having fun doing live comedy. Fuck whoever decided to dust off that Hooter's sketch.

My three least favorite SNL things:

1: Tonight's hot host sure is hot. Let's do lots of sketches about how hot this hot person is!

2: The host (or Pete Davidson, back in his day) has some tabloid gossip mess going on. Let's reference that, goose the ratings and make all the Tik Tok kids go nuts!

3: Both sides!

This episode indulged in a bit of all three, but not to a loathsome degree. The creepy ogling stuff could have certainly been worse, given that Sweeney is hot in that old school Baywatch-y way with the blonde hair and the big bazoobs. They did put her in a couple of sexy chickie outfits, but the Hooters one was the only sketch that felt like it was really pandering.

I wish they'd let Sarah Sherman get weird more often. She's got something new to offer the show, but lately it seems like she's getting kind of lost in the cast and playing office worker #3 a lot. That sketch where they kept saying shoooot could've been played by literally any lady in the cast, and pretty much all she had to do in the Hooters sketch was have smaller boobs than Sydney Sweeney.
