It's a shame that this had to air against the SNL tribute as it was one the best of the season.

Yeah, this was great. The "Chess I Can" line was a masterstroke.

As is often the case, A.V. Club has thought about this episode a lot more than I have, in a good way. For instance, I didn't consider that Louise is only really effective on a one-on-one level, maybe as the forceful leader of a small group. But when she tries to extend her control, sh fails.

One thing that's a bit weird in that write-up for me is how Millie is labeled "a damn chilling" stock psychopath. Kids get obsessed with things, including other people. She's definitely on the far end of obsessed, but I cringe at that label for a fourth-grader.

Also, I welcome our new chess-master overlord, Henry Haber. I salute the young schemer.

Slight as the overall story was, I was saddened by the ignominious death of Bob's fancy knife. He took it a lot better than I did. The main story in this episode was a delight though. The show's used Louise-as-bully (or at least seeming like one to others) before, I think? But this was a really great use of it and a perfect reason to bring Millie back. They probably could've invented a new character to fill the story role that Millie does, but why bother?

And, yes, Henry definitely has my vote.

Millie straight-up attempts to strangle another girl to death with her own braid so that she can force another girl to spend time with her against her will. That's... pretty extreme.

Looking at myself at just a few years younger than that, I probably would have also done something that horrible in order to get my way on the things that really mattered to me. Generally, I'm of the opinion that kids start out as something close to sociopaths and it's something that most of us eventually outgrow.

"You mean that car payment you're holding?"

One thing I do love about the show is how constantly aware they are that money is tight and golden tickets are few.

As someone who owns not nearly enough Shun knives, this whole sequence put my teeth on edge. Even before the ultimate hammering, that knife was being totally mishandled. You don't use a fancy chef's knife to cut into a countertop! What was he thinking!? It was painful.

Perhaps Louise is learning that she gets away with everything she does at home mostly because they love her? Those same tricks won't work as well on strangers.

I was disappointed with the knife story too. The only gag that worked was Teddy nailing the board to the counter. They should get a roll of stamps and mail in the B story if these are how they're going to be.

That episode was a blast. I kind of wish they'd waited for election season though. Those political ads were just too perfect.

It's interesting to me how much the show is moving further away from Bob's Burgers itself and becoming set more and more in the school. I love the kids though, so no complaints.

I'm watching this one on Adult Swim right now. Since it first aired, I've been teaching myself to read Japanese. I have to give them credit for having the characters on the knife not be gibberish, but actually read ă”ăăȘわ(fukinawa).

Also, Teddy's version of “Wonder” is perfect.
