June 8, 2024 5:25 PM - Season 1, Episode 49 - Subscribe

More challengers to Ospreay's International Championship settle affairs between themselves. Kris Statlander has her first match since her heel turn, and ROH's Lady Frost gets a shot against Toni Storm. Also "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes continues his farewell tour, and I can actually watch tonight live!

The announced card for tonight's Collision:

Kris Statlander vs. Robyn Renegade
Orange Cassidy vs. Kyle O’Reilly -- winner gets a shot at the International Championship
FTR vs. Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli
Toni Storm vs. Lady Frost
Daniel Garcia vs. Tate Mayfairs

Since the business between FTR and Claudio + Wheeler is obviously not done, is this another bout for Forbidden Door or are we waiting for All In?

I did a brief check and it seems that this is the first heel run of Kris Statlander's career, or at least the first in a long time. Which is surprising, considering that she's big and tall and strong as heck. (Unfortunately, her being a heel means no more pre-match ASL shoutouts.). She and Willow are destined to meet again in the Owen Hart Cup, which actually spoils a bit of the bracket.

Dustin's promo after beating Johnny TV, selling his match next week with Jack Perry, came off a little weak. Maybe it was because he wandered a little but, or talked too slow. Either way, if they really want us to keep hating Jack Perry, then having him be the one to retire Dustin is a great way.

In women's wrestling, Lady Frost is super talented and should get more screen time. Toni Storm is supporting her "darling child" by enrolling Mariah May in the Owen Hart Cup (which is filling up quickly), and the Mercedes Moné match with Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door is going to be title for title, which kind of gives away the ending -- NJPW has been desperate to get the title on Mercedes ever since the inaugural match where she busted her ankle.

We started the episode with Wheeler-vs-Wheeler violence, and we end it with Kyle Fletcher putting his boots into Kyle O'Reilly. Orange Cassidy + KOR + WIllow Nightingale = New Best Friends?

Next week is the one year anniversary!

By the way, since I'm doing this live I'm not excerpting the Wrestling Observer here, but this is the Rampage review and here is the coverage of tonight's Collision.
