[TRAILER] TJ (Dave Turner) runs the last pub standing in a previously thriving mining community. He struggles to keep the place afloat while also trying to offer some help to Syrian refugees who have been placed in the empty houses in the community. Tensions arise as down-on-their-luck locals are resentful of the newcomers, but TJ strikes up a friendship with one of the refugees, Yara (Ebla Mari). 87 year-old British social realist filmmaker Ken Loach brings (probably) his final film to screens.
Directed by Ken Loach. Screenplay by Paul Laverty. Produced by Rebecca O'Brien for Sixteen Films/Why Not Productions/Les Films du Fleuve/BBC Film. Cinematography by Robbie Ryan. Edited by Jonathan Morris. Music by George Fenton.
81% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

very excited for this! thanks for posting.
i'm embarrassed to say Ken Loach was brought to my attention only by seeing kes in a list of top 10 British films. i made up for my ignorance by then watching every Loach film i could. appreciative

I posted this over a month ago, intending to watch it that night, but because of [reasons] did not get to it until last night.
It's perfectly made and gutting, with just the slightest bit of hope to relieve some (though not all) of the tension at the end. Great film. Sounds like Loach has backed off of this being his last film, but it would be a fine note to go out on if it is.
