Evil: How to Save a Life
July 16, 2024 8:49 AM - Season 4, Episode 8 - Subscribe

A priest, a skeptic, and a psychiatrist (who is also a skeptic) walk into an utterly bonkers TV show. And this TV show asks: What happens to the Antichrist if you baptize him?

Did anyone else get Addams Family Values vibes when the baby went from constantly crying to being pink-cheeked and giggly? Ugh, the Manager Demon is gonna be so pissed.

*While Sheryl annoys the living heck out of me, I did enjoy her this week. Her confession to David! Her insistence on baptizing Demon Baby! Nailing the baptismal certificate to Leland's door!

*Also, shout-out to whatever remaining Kinko's must be in existence to get that photo printed as well as a colourful version of the baptismal certificate immediately after said baptism and Demon Baby dropoff

*Father Ignatius browbeaten into baptizing Demon Baby was a hoot! As well as seeing what Sister Andrea sees BEFORE and after Demon Baby Baptism

*Is it wrong I don't really care about the remote viewing stuff? It just feels superfluous to whatever else is going on, tbh

*The High Evolutionary is sus, as the kids say, to Father Ignatius

* Dr Boggs has the WORST poker face when it comes to violating his patient's privacy

*We have picked two discarded Evil plot points: the surrogate mom (who I legit thought was dead) and Lexis destined to be the head of a demon house

*Ben Shakir does not Go Through It this episode.

Sheryl was finally useful but that doesn't mean I forgive her for everything up until this point. Nope.

So I'm confused. Is this season 10 episodes?

Oh not just ten - fourteen! Plenty of time to wrap up all the stories!

Yeah, I was like uh, for a penultimate episode that is not the additional four episodes of a truncated fifth season, we are sure showing no sense of urgency huh

Yes, it was nice to see Sheryl using her Sherylness to be an abrasive asshole for good rather than darkness this time; riding roughshod over poor Wallace Shawn. "I'll be there in 20 minutes *hangs up*" *shows up with baby*

I had to stop the episode, laugh, rewind, and watch Dr. Boggs (a) walk his psychiatric patient out onto the street, very publicly, which psychiatrists uh don't do, then literally stop talking to her and spin his head like a '90s sketch comedy end-of-sketch take to stare right down the barrel at the Holy Three in their car. I choose to believe this is genius Kurt Fuller physical improv. Kitteh is a Sister Andrea stan, but Dr. Boggs is absolutely my favourite secondary character, and a testament to the fact that anyone in Kirsten's peripheral orbit is doomed to absolute fuckin' lunacy.

LBR, Dr. Boggs has committed so many HIPPA violations during the course of this show.
