Yana: Do I look like stupid to you?
Darcy (who is blind): I haven't the faintest idea what you look like. You sound stupid, though.

By the way... Darcy's store has the rabbit from Caveat clearly visible on a shelf!

This hasn't yet been released in Canada. I'm keen on seeing it- 'Caveat' was great.

Just saw this at Fantasia Fest and loved it. It's so rare to have jump scares that are actually...scary? Also highly recommend seeing it in a theater to hear/participate in the titters of uncomfortable laughter as you all wait together in jittery dread while the tension ratchets up to the next fright.

This is now on Shudder, and I too loved it! It's a perfect little movie for a chilly, rainy Sunday afternoon in the Halloween season. I jumped at one or two things, but overall it's about as frightening to the Terrifier era viewer as the average episode of Murder, She Wrote. And you know what? That's fine! If this is Cozy Horror, I am all about it, guys.

Maybe it was a little too hyped for me but I was underwhelmed. It felt really patchwork, a collection of "cool bits" which didn't come to a complete whole. Music and sound design were good, performances were fine, reasonably well shot but the script was a bit obvious with multiple Chekhov's gun not amounting to a whole lot, poorly written characters. Reminded me of an extended episode from a horror anthology series - if it was 45 minutes it'd likely be stronger.

As a fan of Caveat, I thought this was one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while.
Super atmospheric and tense. The plot was pretty predictable in the broad strokes but the individual scenes and how specific sequences played out were delightfully unpredictable. Excellent imagery and blocking of shots to keep the dread rising throughout. Also, that wooden figure was A+ horror production design.
It helps that I'm a fan of (movies about) haunted objects, so the pitch of "weaponised Oculus" is a really delightful concept that needs more exploring.
Horror, like humour, is very individual, so I can see someone being frustrated by the pace and story beats of this one but for me it all hit perfectly, and I loved that comedic and cathartic final image.

Oddity, by comparison, has a simple plot you can see coming, but never misses even a single note, nailing every beat perfectly, also with immaculate vibes. Your mileage will vary on which you like better. Both are terrific films though.
