Monsieur Le Rock Star, the Vampire Lestat

SDCC gave us all a lil treat: the introduction of Lestat de Lioncourt as the rock star he becomes in The Vampire Lestat. Still using the biography framing, but in documentary form, it sounds like Daniel is delving deep into our beloved bi disaster show pony.
Also, if AMC+ does NOT release that single on iTunes or similar, I will riot.
I can't wait for season 3!
I mean it's no "I am the Vampire Lestat/You're here for the grand sabbat/but I pity you, your lot" for lyrics....

Delightful! I made such noises, I tell you. I can hardly wait to see how they handle a certain queen.

Jilder, I feel I can never express enough joy about how good and fantastic this series turned out to be. I was okay with the 1994 move (raise your hand if you saw it in the theater!) but never really expected the needle to move to anything really quite good. Honestly, I think it took the more permissive outwardly queer vibe of today to get the show we have. The novels were always quite queer but original 1994 movie and the terrible Queen of the Damned movie (I will confess a soft spot for Stuart Townsend's performance as it was closer to how Lestat is than Tom Cruise's performance) never really acknowledged it.
The original trilogy was such a core part of my adolescent identity; fourteen-year-old me could never imagined how good she was going to get it. It would just take nearly 30 years!
The casting for this series is perfection; aside from Eric Bogosian, there are no "huge" names to distract from the heart of the story. I hope that whatever casting happens down the line they continue to rely on talent than bankability. It has served them incredibly thus far.

The Queen of the Damned movie is absolute hot garbage. Aaliyah is great in it, but that's about all I got for it. I got comped free tickets by the elegant young man I was dating at the time because he wrote for street press and had a review to write, and I still feel like I paid too much. But as an Aussie Goth it has an extra dimension because a) like 80% of our east coast Goths flew to Melbourne to film the concern scene, so odds are good if you're a Aussie Goth of a certain age you're either in that film or know people who are; and b) a lot of the people in the supporting cast are like, minor celebrities around here so it's very, uh, seeing kids you know in the school play. Can't take it seriously at all, but it gets my Bacon number up to three, so there's that.
