I wish the writer/director understood the assignment as well as the cinematographer. This is meandering and clumsy, despite an unsettling premise and some good imagery. It mostly just plays like the filmmakers didn't have a full story, just a desire to make you unhappy. That can be enough in some cases, but they don't have the chops for that kind of lift. It doesn't flow at all.

So....was this inspired by The Woman In The Dunes?

Probably in part. But there's some The Hills Have Eyes and Eden Lake in there, too.

This was a hard one for me, because I felt like there were obvious things I could point to that were extremely my shit, but if I'm being honest, I was mostly bored and impatient watching it. Not a bad movie by hacks at all. More like a misfire. A whole lot of stuff that I would have thought sounded great if related to me by someone else that I didn't like when actually watching.
