[Trailer] A sadistic devil-worshipping prince intends to wait out a plague in his castle with his friends.

Free streaming options seem to be limited (currently on Pluto in the U.S.); I borrowed the DVD from my local library.

This is a gorgeous fever dream of a movie, all about vibes. Props to the set designers--I wasn't convinced by the masonry, but those colors are great (the yellow room! the white! the purple! those cobalt blue candles by the stairs to the ballroom!)

I was immediately reminded of both Kwaidan and Argento's Suspiria, at least in terms of visuals, though I'm not sure there was any influence on either (in the case of Kwaidan, at least, it seems unlikely--they were released the same year. If there's any influence between them, it was probably the other way around especially given how fast Corman worked).

Love this movie, and I watched it again after the death of Corman. It's always a delight!

Probably worth mentioning that the cinematography on this one is by Nicolas Roeg, which should tell you why it looks the way it does.

I watched this again during early COVID days. So great. So saturated.
