The Lonely Man with the Ghost Machine (2023)

After a global catastrophe, an isolated man finds himself questioning his purpose and sanity as both his deceased wife and a mysterious stranger confront him with his past, his present, and whatever future might remain in the wastes of a dead world.

Written, directed and starring Graham Skipper (he previously starred in The Leech), this is an existentialist meditation on grief, love, and the nature of existence. Also featuring Christina Bennett Lind and the voice talent of Paul Guyet.

Saw this as part of Popcorn Frights and really dug it. Paul Guyet demonstrates how far a talented voice actor can take a role and while Christina Bennett Lind isn't given much to do for most of the movie, once she's let loose, she's wonderful.

Graham's performance in this reminds me of his performance in the Leech where he plays a dude who in normal circumstances presents himself as just a harmless yet misguided individual. But when circumstances ramp up, we see the true violence of his character. It's an impressive trick.

I admit I could have done with less shitting while screaming, but overall I was impressed.
