This is a wonderful adaptation of Junji Ito's manga thus far -- my only worry is that this is only four episodes, which means that a lot of Ito's massive volume will be left out. I guess there must have been some trouble behind the scenes with this production, as it was originally supposed to debut years ago; but you would never know to look at this, an anime that looks very much like an Ito comic brought to trembling life. It's very good.

That's heartening! I've been waiting for this for quite a while, but have been leery of how you adapt his crazy linework into anime. The Netflix Ito show was awful and I could only watch one episode.

If anything, it's so much like the comic that I sometimes feel like I'm just looking at a photo of a page. Then there's some subtle movement. The small movements and an evocative soundscape give the show an eerie feeling, like walking down a deserted street in the fall when a cold breeze rattles through and stirs the dry leaves on the ground.

Should I bother with this ? Apparently the quality of the animation drops shockingly in episode 2.

The animation is so-so, but on the whole the show is good. I preferred the goofiness of the movie though.
