November 27, 2024 1:27 PM - Season 1, Episode 18 - Subscribe

After arriving on P3X-989, the team are rendered unconscious. When they wake, they return to Earth, but soon find out that they are androids. The team must return to the planet to find out what happened to their real bodies.

SG-1 arrive on the seemingly-abandoned planet of Altair and are soon knocked out. When they awaken with no discernible ill effects, they hastily return to Earth. There, they discover that they've been turned into androids. To ensure their survival, they are forced to return to Altair to work with the last remaining Altairan, Harlan, who maintains the power systems of the underground city, but they soon learn Harlan is hiding something.

Nice little rope-a-dope, especially with all the other episodes this season where drastic changes magically revert back, to have them be android forever. Decent protocols too for SG command to actually take this seriously and not just shrug about them being androids. I mean it would be better to do this before giving them full access to the facility, but nice to see the fact of their replacements being treated as a threat. Dr. Frasier continues to be badass, one of my favorite side characters.

Sure, it's funny when Harlan says Comtrya a lot, whatever.

It's very funny when the booming doomsday computer countdown declares an "all clear" at the last second with "COMTRYA!"

This is a great episode. Great character stuff. Great mystery. Great surprise reveal. Great themes about consciousness and meaning. Overall fantastic SF.

-1 point for some really awkward split screen work.

9/10
