Aside from provoking the obvious question WRT WWII--why, if GIR was so effective, didn't the army make about 1000 of them and end the war years early (imagine how many lives would have been saved on Omaha Beach alone)--it's a very effective episode, providing a nice metaphor regarding the use and abandonment of soldiers. Kind of wonder where they're going with the ending, though.

Also, I was glad to see Sgt. Rock and Easy Company in this episode. I'm old enough to have read the comics when the legendary Joe Kubert was still drawing the book, and seeing Little Sure-Shot makes me think that one of the inspirations for Predator may have been "Sgt. Rock and Easy Company fight an alien." (Schwarzenegger was one of the actors considered for the on-again, off-again live-action Sgt. Rock movie.)
