Air Force One is shot down by terrorists, leaving the President of the United States stranded in the wilderness of Finland. 13-year-old Oskari is on a hunting mission to prove his maturity to his kinsfolk by tracking down a deer, but instead discovers the President in an escape pod. With the terrorists closing in to capture their prize, the unlikely duo team up to escape their hunters.
This was on TV this weekend and I watched the last 45 minutes, gripped. I guess I vaguely recall seeing trailers for this. Of course it is pure unadulturated ridiculousness [at least the third I saw], with Samuel L. Jackson overacting and Onni Tommila making some very bad decisions on the way to a literal photo finish. It was action-packed but the action was so clearly CGI + implausible that it felt like a cheesy cartoon. Some reviewers dismissed it as a children's movie dressed up like an action flick. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as long as it's amusing. Anyway, I hung on to the end and much enjoyed the refrigerator's cameo, one of those magic movie boxes that is bigger on the inside than on the outside, and also bulletproof and buoyant.

Awww, I loved it. The Finnish isn’t subtitled on YouTube but I understood a couple words and only one was perkele. It proved that the Finns really must rake their forests, there was so much unimpeded movement of freezers (and why didn’t Jackson jump out when it was being dragged along?)
