In London in 1958, a young photographer seeks media stardom to keep the love of a beautiful, aspiring fashion designer.

So much movie here. The opening long takes! (Which Janet Jackson hired the director to recreate for her “When I Think Of You” video.) Sade! David Bowie! Ray Davies! Stephen Berkoff!

Loved the Bowie theme song, but if it ever played the sleepy college town that I was in, it was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it run.

I loved this movie when I caught it on cable a year or two after it came out. I don't know how well it will hold up in the 35+ (YEEESH!) years since I've seen it but it does count as one of the few musicals I've enjoyed watching (the others being The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Pennies from Heaven).
