I saw it last night and really liked it. The family was so warm and loving, it was devastating what happened to them. I didn't know much about this period of Brazilian history so I read up on it afterwards. It also made me wonder if this sort of thing could happen in the US if our democratic systems continue to erode.

I read the urgent Slate story yesterday about it, so I went ahead and watched it just before the ceremony. Yes, It did fly under the radar for me, and I'm so glad that it won the International prize. It's a movie about America in 2026, very dark and extremely scary.

It got 4.3 rating on letterboxd. 9/10.
