White House Down (2013)

In a daring departure from his usual oeuvre, Roland Emmerich destroys a city with James Woods instead of inclement weather.
Regrettably, no displaced boats appear in this film.

Channing Tatum sets the White House on fire in the final third of the movie. He learned that the White House could be set on fire from a painting in the first third of the movie. This didn't add much to the plot but it did make Channing Tatum very wet in a white tank top, which I suspect was the point. It's what Dolley Madison would have wanted.

Much more entertaining than Olympus Has Fallen, which was released the same year. If one had to be made into a trilogy, it should have been this one.

I would be morbidly curious how often this resulted in a lot of “hell yeah!” and applause from certain audience members?

Much more entertaining than Olympus Has Fallen,
No Gerard Butler, you're no Gerard Butler! He couldn't even be arsed to do a proper American accent and still knocked the stuffing out of Taters.

I just caught this streaming on Tubi and it has enough plot for at least two movies. In one day there are three US presidents and I question the logic of a Delta Force strategy which involves flying low between DC buildings as a surprise approach when the streets are packed with cars and CNN is broadcasting live.

If you want to question something then make it the Secret Service personnel who step out of covered positions in the White House to get show on the open lawn.
