The Americas: The Atlantic Coast
February 23, 2025 3:59 PM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe
Tom Hanks narrates a 10-episode television event from the executive producers of Planet Earth, exploring the extraordinary worlds and wildlife of North and South America.
Airing in the US starting 2/23/25, on NBC, Peacock and Bravo. Looks like it starts airing 3/2 on BBC One.
Scored by composer Hans Zimmer, the breathtaking journey follows amazing creatures living in their natural habitats across the supercontinent, including diverse terrains like the Atlantic Coast, Mexico, Wild West, Amazon, Frozen North, Gulf Coast, Andes, Caribbean, West Coast and Patagonia.
This first episode centers the Atlantic Coast, where wild horses battle, bald eagles chase ospreys and sharks protect fish; raccoons navigate city life, black bears search for food in ancient forests and a 130-year-old oak tree prepares for winter's arrival.

The cicada horror movie music cracked me up, but I would have liked a longer segment on fireflies.

Seems the BBC audience reponse to Tom Hanks as narrator isn't overly warm: Casting Tom Hanks as the narrator for #TheAmericas instead of David Attenborough is like making Keir Starmer a PM, when you've once had a true Brit in Sir Winston Churchill.
