Was this the most original thriller I've seen this year? No. Did I feel like it hit its marks and did I enjoy it? Yes.

(Was I nonetheless distracted in one particular scene wondering why there's a look to action movies from the mid-90s onward, and what exactly causes that, and how a canny director might avoid it? Also yes.)

Something that I love about this movie is that the protagonist never once falls for any of the tricks the antagonist uses. She’s smart enough not to let him weaponize her own politeness or sense of obligation. He tries to get her to roll down her car window, she refuses. He fakes a broken arm and a flat tire and asks her to help, she just drives on past. She does everything right! Unfortunately it doesn’t really matter in the end, but it’s great to see a protagonist who seems to know what genre of movie she’s in.
