[TRAILER] The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), that imposing menace from Morningside Mortuary, is back and once again haunting the thoughts of the now-adult Mike (A. Michael Baldwin, returning to the role) and his friend, ex-Ice Cream vendor Reggie (Reggie Bannister). The two continue their hunt for the mysterious figure and in his path of destruction encounter a variety of dangerous situations, friends and enemies.

As with the second film, this is mostly for the faithful. Coscarelli still has a knack for wild ideas and memorable images, but the script is even weirder than usual. Honestly, it's a bit like reading an AskMe that's full of oversharing. "Oh... this is your deal. Huh. Weird."

Continues the bit started in II where Reggie is constantly making pathetic attempts to get laid, this time with the hammy, nunchaku-twirling "Sassy Black Lady" character Rocky.

If you're watching Phantasm 3, surely you are committed. I'm a fan but I recognise that this not really for most people.

I watched Phantasm III for work (I helped put it on DVD about 20 years ago), and yeah, it’s fanservice, but it has its charms. The flashback during the climax to 70s Reggie makes no sense but works on some deeper, oneiric level (like the first film).
