[TRAILER] When Showtime scuttled a TV horror anthology series before it went to air, the three episodes (two by John Carpenter, one by Tobe Hooper) were linked with connecting segments featuring Carpenter as a ghoulish Crypt-Keeper-like host in a morgue to make a feature film.

Starring John Carpenter, Tom Arnold, Tobe Hooper, Robert Carradine, Alex Datcher, Peter Jason, Molly Cheek, Wes Craven, Sam Raimi, David Naughton, George Buck Flower, Lucy Boryer, Roger Rooks, Stacy Keach, David Warner, Sheena Easton, Dan Blom, Attila, Kim Alexis, Greg Nicotero, Debbie Harry, Mark Hamill, Twiggy, John Agar, Roger Corman, Charles Napier.

73% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

This feels like three episodes of Tales from the Crypt. And just like Tales from the Crypt, it's a mixed bag, with one that is well-made but a little muted ("The Gas Station"), one that is hammy but a blast ("Hair"), and one that's a big waste of energy (Hooper's segment, "Eye.")

My favorite thing about The Gas Station is the killer is played Robert Carradine. Considering the last time I had seen him when this came out was in Revenge of the Nerds, I was impressed with how well he pulled this role off.

I love the Hair section but indifferent to the other 2 segments. Surprising how bad Hooper's segment is - does not feel like one of his films at all.
