The third book in the Cemeteries of Amalo trilogy, a fantasy mystery in the world of the Goblin Emperor. The Witness for the Dead is called to address, among other things, poor record-keeping at a cemetery and the murder of 192 dragons.

Reactor has an excerpt, and a review by Leah Schnelbach. There is a review by Liz Bourke at Locus. There is a recent audio interview with Addison / Monette at The Compleat Discography, with a forthcoming transcript.

The first two books were FanFared: The Witness for the Dead and The Grief of Stones.

I did love this. I was, though, saddened by how the Iäna Pel-Thenhior story progressed, for reasons set out in someone else's review at GoodReads.

The transcript link doesn't go to a transcript, but to a Reddit post about the audio interview.

Yes, sorry that wasn't clear. The interviewer says there will be a transcript and that they will post to the reddit thread when it is available.

I enjoyed it, but I get the reaction to the Iäna storyline. I haven't listened to the interview - does she address that at all?

She does, yes, very near the end. Talks about not having been sure where to go with the storyline, and the character dictating the final choice, but that she thinks it ends better that way.

She also talks about her influences, thinks of herself as a horror writer, Lovecraft, MR James. Talks about future plans - no book underway at the moment (had a bad year last year). The Celahar books were hard because she was having to teach herself to write mysteries. Probably leaving this world for a while and writing a horror novel. May depend on whether Tor commission another book in the Osreth series. Talked about the seed of the GE being in Elizabeth I being told she had succeeded to the throne.
