A right-wing newspaper redirects the police investigation of the brutal rape and murder of a young girl to help the candidate it supports in the upcoming elections.
This is timely and chilling; Gian Maria Volonté plays the corrupt right-wing newspaper editor perfectly. Director Bellocchio was a Communist, so firmly on the side of the left during the tumultuous 70s, and while other movies of the Years of Lead era tend to use metaphor and satire to make their points, this is an unabashed polemic. Not streaming, alas, but the Radiance Blu-ray is all regions.

There's also a physical release from Radiance.
This one was a real pleasure. I wish films now would be this political.

The Radiance release is the one I have -- there's a great Alex Cox video on it and a couple of other supplements I haven't read yet. I also really liked the essay in the booklet.
I agree, a substantial part of the satisfaction is how uncomplicated this one is. Corrupt media is bad, and this is how it's bad.
