The Linguini Incident (1991)

Two disgruntled restaurant employees (David Bowie, Rosanna Arquette) decide to rob their employers (Buck Henry, Andre Gregory).

This is certainly something. Now on Tubi.

The story of the director’s cut (the version on Tubi) and why that’s a big deal.

Original NYT review: “When a film's most down-to-earth actor is David Bowie, that film is clearly determined to stay off the beaten track.“

There’s one particular scene that looked so much like a painting.

Anyway, this is the zany, artsy weird NYC I moved there for but missed out on.

Watched this for Bowie, but it was a lot of fun even if it didn't work 100%. I would like many more like this for nice comfort viewing.

Judging from the runtimes, both the old version and recut are streaming. Looks like the recut is on Apple TV and prime. But I could be wrong.

A lovely little film, but why is it called The Linguini Incident?

A Calvin and Hobbes reference, maybe?

I caught it on video in the 1990s and enjoying it. Major suspension of disbelief that much of the conflict comes from someone *not* wanting to sleep with Bowie.
