Finish That Abandoned Series! What are yours?

My partner and I have started rotating streaming services instead of keeping a bunch long-term. This is giving us the opportunity to finish some series we abandoned on platforms we had previously canceled, and motivation to finish others on platforms we are about to cancel. So what series have you been meaning to get back to and finish up? And what's preventing you from doing it?

We need to finish Glow, which we couldn't access for a while and it fell off our priority list.

Same with Sens8. We've heard it runs out of steam, but we don't have much more to go.

We also need to finish Kevin Can F✓€k Himself. The second season is so dark, and with things generally being as they are I have to be in a certain mood to watch something so stressful.

I'm sure there are more, those are just the ones that occurred to me off the top of my head.

I have so many! I get overwhelmed by life and tempted by new TV! Day of the Jackal and Abbott Elementary are the recent ones.

I need to finish Evil.

Bob's Burgers is kind of a quasi-abandoned show. I watch until I catch up, then take a year or two off, then catch up, over and over.

I abandoned Survivor a few years ago. It and Alone are the two reality shows I stick with, well, stuck with? Though can't say I'm a big fan of Mark Burnett at the moment, so Survivor will probably stay in the forget pile for a while.

Knocked out episodes 9 & 10 of Scavengers Reign on my commute home tonight. Hopefully will knock out the rest next week (though the Residence came along just in time to ensure we’ll keep Netflix long enough to finish it

We decided to cancel Paramount+ even though we were halfway through Evil. It was kind of fun, but with not quite enough oomph. We might watch more if we circle around to P+ again, but it's not "must finish" for us.

I watched an ep of Scavenger's Reign and decided I had to wait so my partner and I could watch it together, so I'm calling that one "not started yet,' and not "abandoned."

I realized I have most of a season of Thunderbirds are Go to watch. I'm old enough to remember the original, so I get quite a kick from how they incorporate cheezy elements from the Super-Marionation version.

The only bad thing about Scavenger's Reign was it wasn't renewed for season two (but don't worry, Season 1 is still great fun!). I really enjoyed it. I'm trying to start Side Effects or what its called that I think is by the same studio, but the animation feels cheaper and so far it's a smidge distracting. So trying not to make it abandoned.

We’re making a second run at season 2 of Perry Mason and remembering why we gave up on it the first time.

So I shouldn't take a gander at season 1?

Season 1 was quite good. But it's an origin story. And origin stories are always the best ones. So things were bound to go downhill somewhat.

Ted Lasso Season 3. Main obstacle? Jason Sudeikis. I find him insufferable as a performer and the character Ted Lasso needs a smack. But also the increased length in the episodes in the season 3. In the end we carved the time and were mostly satisfied.

Paradise - We’re about three or four episodes in and haven’t made an effort to continue. We liked it well enough. But, it never comes to mind to jump back in. We probably should.

Evil - Started it, liked the premise, but just couldn’t vibe with it. I just find Michael Emerson to be an annoying actor. Dunno why, but his presence tends to kill my interest.

Mindhunter - Not sure why I slipped away from this one. I recall enjoying it.

The Night Agent - We liked S1 enough to jump into S2, but lost interest about two episodes in. Not sure if we’ll go back.

Weirdly, we actually finished the latest season of Reacher, but I mentally checked-out on it about halfway through, so it feels like I didn’t finish it.

We just got three free months of AppleTV+, so we’ll see how many of the highly-regarded shows on that platform we start and never finish, too.

I'll add Vikings: Valhalla to my list because...I had completely forgotten I had only watched the first couple episodes of Season 3. It has the same vibe as the originator Vikings show on Netflix but admittedly, that show was a bit more fun, in part from the actors and the characters.

As basically a sequel, Valhalla picks up with Canute's conquest of England and the general success of Christians converting the norse to their religion. While it may be imperfect history, it definitely hangs itself on a historical framework, enough so, that I have fun with it.

I've got a pretty long list, most of which got on it because a) I got distracted by something else, b) I quite liked it and didn't want it to end, c) I wanted to finish it all in one go. Without going into which ones are which:

Extraordinary: what if everyone in the world got superpowers when they turned 18, except the protagonist? Although the premise could also be stated as, "What if Misfits, but the showrunner and writers actually gave a shit about the characters and just a bit of worldbuilding? Oh, and also funny." (Seriously, the amount that that show disappointed me, especially after Simon left, can't be overstated.)

The Expanse: Finished S1, started S2, want to get back to it especially as I understand that one of my favorite characters from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is actually a thinly-veiled version of a character whom I haven't seen yet on this one. Plus, of course, Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Daredevil: Born Again and Echo: I think that I've watched all the Marvel shows except for these, where I've only seen the first episodes so far. I also need to finish S2 of Agent Carter, and may eventually get back to Agents of SHIELD, although that was one show that could have benefited from the shorter seasons that most shows have gone to.
