Justified: Collateral
April 8, 2015 4:50 AM - Season 6, Episode 12 - Subscribe
Ava goes for a hike. Raylan and Boyd meet on a mountain. Duffy needs a truck. Bob captures Ava. Zachariah has something for Boyd. And Loretta makes Markham an offer he can't refuse.
It's hard to believe there's only one episode left. We need almost that much time just to find out what Wynn is up to with his Dog Grooming truck and topological map. I was impressed that he took the time to steal and hide the bracelet before the cops arrived to the Winnebago.
I agree about Loretta. They are setting her up to be the last woman standing in Harlan county. My current bets are on Wynn getting the money, her getting the properties, and the rest of the criminal element getting shot. I'm not sure if Raylan lives because they've offered enough story reason for that to go either way. I'm hoping there is time to see Rachel reinstated as chief.
As a Stephen Root fan I'm disappointed we haven't seen Judge Mike "The Hammer" Reardon this season. Maybe someone will be left alive enough to get convicted in a montage or something.

This was kind of a frustrating episode for me. It was good, don't get me wrong. I loved Shea Whigham telling Boyd he's scum and everyone knows it. Only Raylan had ever said that to him in plain English.
But it felt like resolution delayed. Moving pieces on the chessboard.
Can't wait for the finale.
We saw him call 911. So how did Duffy get the necklace into the toothpaste before the cops showed up? :-)

Some of Mikey's Eagle Scout must have rubbed off on him. "Be Prepared" (to quickly smuggle jewelry).

I think Raylan breaking-off his hunt for Boyd to go tend to Bob is probably meant to redeem him.

I'm also leaning toward Loretta having the last word in all of this. The more I think about it, there really was no reason to keep her around this long if she wasn't going to be a major player in the series resolution.
I had a hard time hearing Markam talking to Loretta but I think he invoked Mags. So yes, it does seem like they're going that direction. I go back and forth whether Loretta getting cornered was sloppy and out of character. Or if it's more telling that as smart as she may seem, she is still just a kid.
Also thought Markam asking her about conspiring with Ava may have been a bit of foreshadowing? Otherwise, I don't know, if Ava is just the damsel in distress for Raylan and Boyd to fight over, eh. That would leave too much to be desired.
I thought the jump from the gunshots and Ava running to Boyd and Raylan having their shoot out was jarring. As in "I thought I missed something so I'm not sure it was the best editorial choice" jarring. But maybe it's just me.
Did not buy dirty cop #1 calling dirty cop #2 a pussy for the ball shot. Cuz come on, all men are sympathetic to that.
Kind of hoping Wynn Duffy rides off into the sunset with the money.

Who was Ava calling when she was running down the hill? She said something like "if you want it come get it now".. clearly wasn't Raylan or Boyd.. could it have been Markham?

In case anybody missed his postmortem Graham Yost references anagnorisis, and impersonates Constable Bob in this episode. Plus the production team buys some sports memorabilia.

Oh, and he sort of answers the question about Ava's phone call.

They made such a big deal a couple episodes ago about Loretta getting Boyd as protection, but his force really was only three guys including himself. She would have better off going to almost anyone other than Boyd or her ex-boyfriend. My memory of season 3 is fuzzy, but Limehouse was the one who gave her Mags' money. Did they leave on bad terms? He might not want to get into the long-term protection business but he could take care of Boon for her.

Raylan, in the woods at night, knowing it was Boyd because his teeth glow in the dark. LOLs
The scenes in and around the truck between Boyd and Shea Whigham's character were so brilliantly scripted and acted. Best in a long time.
Would someone please kill Boon already?
Avery's line to Loretta: "You remind me of Katherine" was creepy.
When Ava reached that metal bridge we've seen consistently again and again on the show where pretty much nothing good has ever happened, I knew immediately she was going to be apprehended.
I probably should not have been quite that happy to see Raylan finally taken into police custody, after all of the many abuses of power he's perpetrated. He won't be held accountable, of course.
Prediction for the very end: Showdown between Wynn Duffy (sneaking up on Winona's house in his fake dog grooming van because he thinks Raylan has the money?) vs Raylan in Florida, where Raylan has accepted a transfer to go be a family man at last. Calling back to the very first scene of the series (where Raylan walks onto a hotel swimming pool deck in Miami, FL, sits at a table across from Tommy Bucks, gives Bucks an ultimatum, then shoots him three times in the chest, killing him) -- Raylan will shoot and kill Wynn. And it will be "justified."

It would be very, very satisfying if Loretta killed Boone.
