Samurai Champloo: Lethal Lunacy (Fighting Fire With Fire) Rewatch

While on the road, Fuu, Mugen and Jin meet a a Buddhist monk making himself available for anyone who wishes to give alms, and when he finds they are out of money and hungry, he offers them work for food and lodging. Meanwhile, Fuu notices an award for the capture of an unknown assailant who is killing powerful samurai to test his sword (tsujigiri), and tells Jin and Mugen of the reward. Jin passes, and Mugen leaves the work behind in search of the tsuijigiri.

The whole thing about "Kacchuu Kudaki," or "Armor Lifeforce Tube" (punching beyond armor with your life force, or qi/chi/ki) is apparently made up for this show, because I couldn't find anything about it online. But an anecdote on this general topic, I have a college friend who told his sister he could break bricks inside a wall by focusing and punching the right way, which made me think that this was a martial arts legend (at least, in the west).

Oh, I was going to say "there's nothing about using ki/chi/qi, beyond Combat Tai Chi, which involves actually touching people, and not creating deadly winds of your own focused life-force.
