Claire and Jenny set out to rescue Jamie from his redcoat captors; unorthodox tactics are used.
I've started negotiations over my treatment of Plum Plucker and the Twig, a buddy adventure show starring Jenny and Claire as they travel the highlands righting wrongs and solving mysteries.
I figure it makes more sense than Claire's musical road trip and does not suffer from the author smacking all her characters upside the head with the Stupid Stick. I mean, there's a reason half the episode was a montage.

I loved the song and dance roadtrip! Though I worry that this episode was too slow for non-book readers. The Dougal scene felt off to me; in the book he's way creepier and Claire is more Oh Hell No (am I mis-remembering that Claire definitely did not say she'd marry him if she failed?). Willie remains my favorite highlander.

it really was. everything after jenny left and before claire and murtaugh hugged it out was just endless grinding tedium.

You are not but I thought it kind of made more sense the way they did it in the show, giving Dougal a somewhat logical reason to want to help her get Jamie out of that prison.
I thought this episode was totally great after last week's disappointment. Surprised some of you found it slow! I really love Jenny & Claire together, and it was nice to see Murtagh again also.

"Slut" to British women of both the18th century and 1940s meant slovenly rather than promiscuous.

Was I the only one who cried "The Cowl! THE COWL!" as Claire and Jenny prepared to leave? Yes? Funny, I don't even knit....
While I thoroughly enjoyed the episode as a whole, I was surprised at the switch in tone as Claire went from travelling country doctor to early vaudevillienne (sp?). I'm not sure it really served the story better, but it was some silly fun. And though the Jenny-Claire and later Claire-Murtagh buddy scenes were so delightful, I could stand watching a season or two of a Jenny-Murtagh buddy adventure. That'd be a no-nonsense Highland tour, make no mistake.

The gypsies weren't rivals in the book and mostly spoke a dialect of French.

I just started watching this show and have been enjoying it so far... but this episode really tested my suspension of disbelief.

Oh god this episode was a slog. The Claire & Jenny teamup was fun but her prophesizing came out of nowhere. And then things really went downhill...
